The main app (dbvppc.exe) will use them correctly.

Palm 1.2 Release Candidate

Download: dbvpalm.1.2rc1.zip
1.2RC 1
New Features
– Fixed weak Chime sound in Sony CLIE (See note below)
– Autostartup modified to include a display time

This build contains update for the prc file.

NOTE:
+Currently, Chime feature on Sony requires a 3rd party add-in (MCA2) at AiboPet’s AiboHack Site.
+The current build of MCA2 does *not* support asynchronous playback, hence DBVpalm will only appear after the chime has finished playing. According to MCA2 developer, asynchronous playback will be supported in the next release.

Palm 1.2Beta 2

Download: dbvpalm.1.2b2.zip
1.2Beta 2
New Features
– Enhanced for OS5 320 X 480 (Works on Palm T3 & Sony OS5 CLIE)
– Chime sound support for Sony CLIE (Requires 3rd party add-in. See below)
– Autostartup modified to always run once a day only
This new version contains update for the prc file.
NOTE:
Currently, Chime feature on Sony requires a 3rd party add-in (MCA2) at AiboPet’s AiboHack Site.
This is due to Sony and Palm having differing APIs for supporting sound. Sony released sound-enabled CLIE with the Yamaha chipset while Palm implemented its own in later Palm models.
Will try to integrate with the Yamaha PA1Lib sound library for Sony CLIE later when I have the bandwidth. (Prob after June)
Will then test on my friend’s Sony CLIE NX70 to see if it works as my only Sony CLIE is the antiqued PEG-SL10! 🙂

Palm 1.2 Beta

Download: dbvpalm.1.2b.zip
1.2Beta
New Features
– Bell sound
– Autostartup
– Verse number display
Updated menu options

This new version contains update for the prc file and also a new wav file “dbvpalm.wav”.
NOTE:
Bell sound feature should work on Tungsten series or Palm devices with OS 4.0 and above.
Copy dbvpalm.wav to external card “/PALM/LAUNCHER/” directory.

For devices such as Sony that uses proprietary libraries for playing wave files, please do not install the dbvpalm.wav file as it will cause application to fail on startup. To run without the bell sound, delete the file dbvpalm.wav and restart the application.

About

What is Digital Buddha Vacana?

Buddha Vacana” means the Words of the Buddha.  Digital Buddha Vacana is a daily readings software that automatically displays a verse from the Buddha’s teachings on your PC, handheld or other supported devices.

It started off with only the set of verses from the book Buddha Vacana: Sacred Literature of Buddhism and now offers other books for download.

What about Ramblings of a Monk?

This website currently serves to

  1. Provide online access to the daily verses
  2. Download centre for Digital Buddha Vacana apps running on various platforms
  3. Host the backend app service for the facebook app Buddha Vacana
  4. Host my blog “Ramblings of a Monk”
